The Sugar Mill Hotel Named one of Caribbean’s Five Best Hotels
Conde Nast Traveler’s annual Reader’s Poll has named the BVI’s Sugar Mill Hotel as one of the five best in the Caribbean/Atlantic region. This is the second time the 23 room hotel has been awarded this honor.
“It’s a very special award because it is based on guests’ experiences and we’re very pleased to have such an excellent rating from our visitors,” said Jeff Morgan who with his wife Jinx, is the hotel’s owner. “We are especially proud of our staff who take such pride in their work and who always try to go the extra mile to please a guest,” Morgan added.
Managing Director Patrick Conway attributes the honor to the hotel’s committment to training staff and continually upgrading the property. “This month we completed the refurbishment of our four Pool Suites. We put in new bathrooms with stone-faced outdoor showers with their own gardens. The living room and bedroom have been redecorated from top to bottom and we anticipate they will become guest favorites.”
With the completion of this project every room on the property has had major cosmetic surgery in the past five years, bringing them to an award winning standard.
Sugar Mill Restaurant Named One of Four Best in the Caribbean
The Sugar Mill Restaurant in the British Virgin Islands has been named by a second reader's poll as one of the best restaurants in the Caribbean. The readers of Caribbean Travel & Life recently named the Sugar Mill Restaurant as one of the four best in the Caribbean. Previously, The Sugar Mill Hotel was honored as one of the three best restaurants in the Caribbean and Mexico on Celebrated Living's Platinum List. Celebrated Living is the magazine for American Airline's first and business class passengers. Housed in a three centuries old stone sugar mill and lit by flickering candles, the Sugar Mill offers and ever-changing menu of creative dishes combining Caribbean flavors with classical and contemporary influences.
"We're delighted to have received this recognition for the hard work of our kitchen and waitstaff," said Managing Director, Patrick Conway of the Sugar Mill Hotel & Restaurant.
The Sugar Mill is owned by Jinx & Jeff Morgan; long time food writers, contributing editors and columnists of Bon Appetit magazine. They are also authors of the popular Sugar Mill Caribbean Cookbook published by Harvard Common Press.
